VALLÉE-JONCTION, QUE. - In one form or another, the Granite State Pro Stock Series’ maiden voyage to Quebec was going to make series history.
But hometown hero Alexendre “Fireball” Tardif made the most of history in Saturday’s Centre Lavertu Honda 150, becoming the first Quebecer to win a GSPSS event in the series’ first-ever event at Autodrome Chaudière.
The high-banked quarter-mile nestled in Quebec’s Beauce region opened its doors to the New Hampshire-headquartered touring series for the penultimate race of its 2025 season, with rookie Cole Robie and 2024 runner-up Evan Beaulieu carrying the series banner across the international border.
Tardif, from nearby Notre-Dame-des-Pins, Que., has spent the season learning the ins and outs of a Pro Stock, but Saturday’s event was his first opportunity to put his home track expertise to work.
Fellow Quebec native Alex Labbé set fast time in qualifying, but it was Tardif who took charge down the stretch. Driving his familiar No. 21, Tardif was nearly two seconds ahead of Jimmy Renfrew, Jr. as he took the checkered flag.
The $10,000 win was Tardif’s second touring victory of the year at Chaudière, but his first win ever in a Pro Stock, and his first win in his first start with the GSPSS.
Renfrew, a former Late Model winner at Chaudière, notched his best GSPSS finish since 2023 with his runner-up result. Points leader Robie finished third to secure his spot on the podium. Labbé and Maine’s Nick Cusack rounded out the top five.
With Beaulieu finishing seventh, Robie heads to the season finale with the championship well in hand.
The Granite State Pro Stock Series wraps up the 2025 season this coming Sunday as the featured event of the third day of Russ Conway’s Oktoberfest at Lee USA Speedway. The season’s third stop at “New Hampshire’s Center of Speed” will also crown a first-time series champion. More info on Sunday’s season-ending showdown will be released in the coming days.
