Griffith $10,000 Richer With GSPSS Keen Parts 150 Victory

LEE, N.H. - Not even a guest appearance by a NASCAR star could slow down Derek Griffith’s pursuit of the Keen Cup and its $10,000 bounty.
The 2015 Granite State Pro Stock Series champion made his first series start in two years count, dominating Friday night’s Keen Parts 150 at Lee USA Speedway.
The big-money showdown anchored Lee’s Cup Weekend Kickoff celebration, welcoming NASCAR Cup Series playoff contender Tyler Reddick and NASCAR spotter Derek Kneeland as challengers in the 150-lap Pro Stock feature.
But it was Griffith, from Hudson, N.H., who stole the show. The 2023 Keen Parts 150 winner, returning to the GSPSS for the first time since the 2023 season finale, set fast time in qualifying and took over from Corey Bubar on a lap-36 restart.
Bubar caught Griffith in traffic several laps later, even poking his nose out front for a lap, but a spin for points leader Cole Robie brought out a yellow on lap 68, erasing Bubar’s momentary lead and handing the top spot back to Griffith.
Griffith took advantage of Bubar’s restart woes to get out front, leaving the three-time GSPSS winner to hold off July winner Joey Doiron and 2024 Oktoberfest winner Eddie MacDonald while Griffith pulled away.
A caution flag on lap 91 bunched the field up again, but Bubar and Doiron were no match for Griffith, who set sail to a 2.456-second victory worth $10,000.
Bubar held on for second, his best outing of the year. Doiron was a distant third after pressuring Bubar for second most of the race.
MacDonald finished fourth in Dave Lemieux’s familiar red Chevrolet while defending Keen Parts 150 winner Brandon Barker was fifth for car owner Archie St. Hilaire.
Robie dodged multiple bullets en route to a strong sixth-place finish, with Dave Farrington, Jr., newcomer Sylas Ripley, Travis Stearns and Garrett Hall rounding out the top ten.
Reddick, entered in a second St. Hilaire car as Barker’s teammate for the evening, hoped to improve on his runner-up performance in the inaugural Keen Parts 150 in 2022. But while the NASCAR star put on a thrilling duel with local racer Connor McDougal, the playoff contender settled for a 12th-place finish.
Evan Beaulieu and Casey Call, Robie’s chief title contenders, struggled through the evening and finished outside the top fifteen, giving them plenty of work to do in the final two races to unseat the teenaged points leader.
Next up for the Granite State Pro Stock Series is the series’ first trip north of the U.S. border with a visit Saturday, September 27 to Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, Que., bringing touring Pro Stocks back to the popular Quebec oval for the first time in a decade!
