GSPSS Season Finale at Claremont Motorsports Park Sunday

The final race of the 2019 Granite State Pro Stock Series will take place at the Claremont Motor Sports Park as the headline event of the newly rejuvenated Fall Challenge. Two days of exciting action will wrap up Sunday October 20 with 100 laps of pro stock action as the series crowns its champion.

The weekend will kick off with rotating practice sessions at 11am on Saturday with heat races starting at two. Feature events for seven divisions will follow with a number of regional divisions taking their shot at the third mile oval. The 602 Dirt Modifieds and Exit Realty Pro Trucks will headline the days action with a redneck enduro completing the days action.

On Sunday the remaining of the thirteen feature events will be run, along wit

h qualifying for the GSPSS. Time Trials will be the first order of business with the final Crazy Horse Racing Fast Time Challenge of the year. Joey Doiron has easily clinched the award for the most fast times, and will look to add to his tally. Heat races will then be run followed by the GSPSS redraw for the top qualifiers.

The 2019 series championship will be settled at this event as Joey Doiron comes in with a 41 point lead. He will only need to cap off what will be a championship season. Ray Christian looks to hold onto second in the standings while 2018 champion Devin O’Connell will try to move up one position. Eighteen points separate the two as they head to the third mile oval.

Jimmy Renfrew Jr holds down the fourth spot in the standings. Renfrew won a pair of street stock races at the track earlier in the year and looks to take advantage of that experience in the pro stock race. He sits nineteen points behind O’Connell and looks to improve his points position with a strong run.

Josh King comes to Claremont solidly in fifth in the points. King has a comfortable gap to both fourth and sixth so he can concentrate on winning the race and not worry about points. King has competed in several divisions at the NH oval and will lean on that experience as he tries to pick up his first win of the 2019 season.

A pair of local drivers have stated that they intend to try to defend their home turf. Claremont’s Luke Hinkley has nearly won several pro stock races at Claremont and will look to finally take down the win. Hinkley will have by far the shortest haul, as he will only have to travel about four miles to get to the track.

Lempster NH’s Guy Caron also plans to compete at the fall challenge. Caron is a former track champion at Claremont and has won numerous races in multiple divisions. Caron will lean on that experience as he tries to pick up his first series win.

Also entered are rookie Jake Matheson and veteran Matt Frahm as well as Attleboro MA driver Kevin Folan and RI competitor Mike Mitchell.

Seekonk winner Angelo Belsito has also filed his entry and Beech Ridge regular Charlie Coby will be making the trip down from Maine to compete in the 2019 GSPSS season finale.

Racing action will begin both Saturday and Sunday at 2pm with practice starting at 11am on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Pit gates will swing open at 8am on Saturday and 9am on Sunday and the grandstands will open at noon on both days.
